His Divine Being

This devotional is written by Joy Yang. Some days I'm giving joy, some days I'm receiving joy - just trying to enjoy each day, one joy at a time!

Colossians 1:15-20

The Supremacy of the Son of God

15 The Son is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. 16 For in him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things have been created through him and for him. 17 He is before all things, and in him all things hold together. 18 And he is the head of the body, the church; he is the beginning and the firstborn from among the dead, so that in everything he might have the supremacy. 19 For God was pleased to have all his fullness dwell in him, 20 and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether things on earth or things in heaven, by making peace through his blood, shed on the cross.

Reflection

During the pandemic, ZOOM, the video conferencing platform, was downloaded over 2 million times on one day in March 2020 and daily average users rose from10 million in December 2019 to over 300 million daily meetings in April 2020. What is it about the human condition that aches for us to be seen and to see to make connections? And when we look, do we really see and feel the connections we so desire? I'm not sure what we did before ZOOM and how we would have managed lockdowns without the ability to ZOOM.

In Colossians, Peter reminds us that Christ is our ZOOM to God. Through Christ we can see what was invisible and through Christ we are connected to everything in heaven and earth. We can see and we are truly seen!

Do you feel unseen? When we connect with God through Christ, we see the invisible. God's light shines on Christ, in turn, Christ's light shines on us. Let's be radiant with His vision.

Do you feel isolated and disconnected? What is separating you from God? Connect to God with Christ through prayers and petition. Let's connect with each other through Christ this Christmas.
