Find Love
This devotional is written by Kirstine Henderson.
Psalm 86:15
But you, Lord, are a compassionate and gracious God,
slow to anger, abounding in love and faithfulness.
slow to anger, abounding in love and faithfulness.
Reflection
All the stats say that in January, and to be precise, the first week of January, online dating websites see a huge increase in the number of people signing up in the hope of finding love.
Of course, this isn’t much of a surprise, as if you are single then the New Year will often bring a renewed sense of hope to find love. This is all good, I am all for dating, for getting out there and trying to find love but I also recognise that it can take its toll and quickly lose its edge of fun. So how do we start this year looking for love?
Firstly, do you find it easy to believe that you are loved by God, just as you are? How often do you hang out with God, just you and him without an agenda but solely to deepen your relationship with him? The truth is that you are loved and loveable, you are his pride and joy, and he longs to spend time with you.
Why not make it a priority to spend time with God today. Discover what he loves about you and how deep his love for you is. No matter your relationship status, this is a good New Years’ aim for us all.
If you are single and looking to find love, then surround yourself with people who love you as you are – find the friends who will support you and cheer you on. If you choose to do online dating, then with a friend, open some wine and create your profile together – don’t do it alone, having people alongside you as you date makes a huge difference.
The best starting point for us all, is knowing that we are loved by God. Why not press play on your favourite worship song, put your phone down and spend the next few minutes with the one who loves you most.
